Liturgical Ministries for the Laity

Altar Servers

Students may serve at Mass after receiving their First Holy Communion. This time-honored service of assisting the priests during the celebration of Mass is very important work.

Anyone interested in serving at the altar may email Fr. Brendan Blawie or call the parish office at 203-255-6134.

Children's Choir

St. Pius X Youth Choir sings at the 9AM Mass on the last Sunday of each month, from September until May.  Children in grades 2-8 are welcomed to join.  Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 4:30-5:30PM.

For more information, email Cidalia Kettles or our Director of Music, Michael Lantowski. You may also call Mike at 203-255-6134 ext 119.

Choral Schola

The Choral Schola leads the liturgical music at the 11:00AM Sunday Mass as well as various Holy Days throughout the year. The Schola is made up of volunteers and professionals who are committed to assist the congregation in singing the Mass and offering special music to help elevate the liturgy.

If you would like to join the Schola, some prior music experience is helpful but not necessary. Training is provided. Please feel free to email our Musical Director, Michael Lantowski, call him at 203-255-6134, ext. 119 or come see Mike after Mass to inquire.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist with bringing the Eucharist to homebound parishioners. They are also called upon to assist with distribution of Communion during Masses on certain feast days (e.g. Christmas or Easter).

Please contact Fr. Sam Kachuba at 203-255-6134 if you are interested in assisting with this ministry.

Lectors

If you would like to become a lector and help proclaim The Word of the Lord, on weekdays, weekends, and holy days during Mass, we have a rotating monthly schedule and periodic training is available.

For more information call  the Parish Office at 203-255-6134.

Ushers

We need you—men and women welcome!

Ushers embody the principles of hospitality at St. Pius X Church. As an usher, you will cheerfully greet parishioners as they enter the church, help them to find seats as needed (particularly the elderly and those with special needs), take up collections, and after Mass ends wish everyone a good day and distribute bulletins. Consider joining us as an usher at Masses.

We assign you to a weekly schedule according to your Mass preference and there is increased need during special feast days and holidays. Training is available. Call the parish office at 203-255-6134 for more information about joining our loyal and friendly team of ushers.
