Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, In all parishes in Fairfield County, we are celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Diocese of Bridgeport. While it is the 29th Sunday of Ordinary Time, Bishop Caggiano has asked that we use the Mass texts for the anniversary of a “particular church,” or diocese. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Yesterday, the St. Augustine Medal of Service was awarded to volunteers from parishes across the Diocese of Bridgeport. Bishop Caggiano gives this award each year in recognition of the important contributions made by the generosity in time, talent, and treasure of so many people. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, What is a prophet? In the Old Testament, we read about many prophets whose primary role is to make the word of God known to the people of Israel. They are sent by God to reveal His plan, or consulted by the Israelite people so that they can understand what ought to be done.
