Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As you know, the month of May is dedicated in a special way to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I renew here what I have encouraged in the past, namely praying through Rosary daily, especially as a family. Venerable Patrick Peyton, known popularly as “the Rosary Priest,” called on families to pray the Rosary together, not only because it is a beautiful devotion, but because of the effect this great prayer has on the family and on the world. “The Rosary has saved the world in the past. It will save the world now, by saving the family.”
Mary is a mother to all of us. And just as we look to our mothers for help and support, Jesus gives us His own mother to be a guide, protector, and support for all who are called disciples. I am grateful for our parish’s devotion to Mary, exemplified especially in the Marian antiphons we sing at the end of every Sunday Mass, our First Saturday devotion, our Friday Rosary group, and the enthusiasm with which so many of our parishioners embrace this beautiful devotion. Pray the Rosary, especially as a family. And today, in a particular, way, pray the Rosary for your mother.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Peace,
Fr. Sam
