From Fr. Sam Kachuba & Members of the Strategic Planning Task Force
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am happy to present to you a two-year Strategic Plan for St. Pius X Parish! This plan has been in the works for quite a while and is part of a diocesan-wide process of strategic planning in every parish. I am grateful to the members of the Strategic Planning Task Force who have helped to compile this plan and who will assist me and the parish staff in its implementation over these next two years.
Many of you remember the Disciple Maker Index survey which was administered to our parish a year ago. The information gathered from the DMI helped us identify certain areas of pastoral need. Thus, this plan focuses on addressing pastoral concerns for the building up of our parish family of faith, particularly in the areas of education (for people of all ages) and leadership.
Your feedback in the Disciple Maker Index was invaluable in identifying our pastoral priorities. In addition to the DMI, the Fourth Diocesan Synod offered a context for pastoral planning that was extremely important. In response to the recommendations of the Synod and with the Synod’s five Global Challenges in mind, this plan was formed. In our discernment, we selected two of the challenges as the priorities for our strategic planning at the parish level. To see a summary of the Diocesan Synod, please visit
Summary of the Diocesan Synod (PDF).
Additionally, we were asked to formulate a goal in the category of “Temporalities and Administration.”
Naturally, the goals included in this plan do not address every single need facing our community. Thus, this plan is meant to provide a two-year framework for our pastoral initiatives, while not excluding other ideas, projects, or unforeseen needs. Our intention in formulating these goals was to present ideas that are measurable, attainable, and that can form a foundation for new initiatives in the future.
Finally, I hope that you will see in this strategic plan an open invitation to join in the building up of the Body of Christ, represented locally here in our parish. We all have an important role to play and so I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities being presented to grow first as a person of faith and in your relationship with Jesus, and second, to grow in your knowledge and understanding of the beauty of our Catholic faith!
