• The Church is often misunderstood and thought to teach that sexuality is bad and to be repressed. In reality, the Church believes that sexuality is so good that it requires more than what modern views on sexuality propose.
• Catholics believe that the purpose of sex is more than to experience passing pleasure, but has significant, lasting effects. We believe sex is unitive and procreative. We also believe that love is not only a good feeling, but also an active and conscious choice to make a gift of self to your beloved.
• Self-giving love has innate goodness, it’s a transcendental, and has the potential to reveal God and His perfect love to the world.
“Our capacity and our desire to love and be loved is “very good.” Following goodness, a transcendental, leads to God. Therefore, acting on our sexuality in accordance with God’s design will not only lead to greater joy in our relationships but also to knowing God’s love more completely and reflecting God’s love to the world.”
