Youth Minister’s Note:
Theology of the Body: Life Night Series on Human Sexuality
Beginning January 14th, we are going dive deeper into God’s plan for love, human sexuality, and our vocation in a new 4-part series.
“Sex Positive” takes on modern views on sexuality. It brings to light and challenges the messages we receive through modern culture and particularly the mass media. It explores the Church’s teaching on the nuptial meaning of the body, the purpose of sex, self-giving love (free, total, faithful, fruitful) and how to faithfully live out self-giving love and chastity in all vocations. Furthermore, it accomplishes this through the lens of truth, beauty, and goodness and an understanding that we (including our sexuality) is created “very good” by God.
Parents, every week you will receive a letter that highlights what was covered that night with questions to help start conversations at home. You can also click on the calendar dates below for a brief summarized outline of the talk for that particular night.
“The body, and it alone, is capable of making visible what is invisible: the spiritual and the divine. It was created to transfer into the visible reality of the world the mystery hidden since time immemorial in God [God’s love for man], and thus to be a sign of it.”
Saint John Paul II
- Is there a real purpose to life and if so, what is it?
- What does it mean that we were created in the image of God?
- Why were we created male and female? Does it really matter if we are one sex or another?
- What does the marital union of a man and woman say to us about God and his plan for our lives?
- What is the purpose of the married and celibate vocations?
- What exactly is “Love”?
- Is it truly possible to be pure of heart?
Please let me know if you have question or concerns, and I would be more than willing to sit down and talk with you more.

About St. Pius X Life Teen
St. Pius X Life Teen (formerly known as the St. Pius X Youth Group or “SPYG”) is the youth group at St. Pius X Parish in Fairfield, CT.
We meet Sundays from 6-8pm* (but not all, so please check the website for up-to-date info) and anyone in high school is welcome, even if you’ve never shown up before! We’re a Catholic group, striving to grow in our relationship with God, grow in friendship with one another, and doing all we can to serve those who are less fortunate.
The mission of Life Teen is to provide teenagers with opportunities to grow in their faith and have real encounters with Christ through prayer, service and authentic friendship. Started in 2003, a talented and creative leadership team plan the meetings, as well as organize fundraisers, retreats, and service projects. In 2015, we implemented LifeTeen and our ministry has grown tremendously since then. We hope that you will consider sharing in the journey with us. Drop by for a night and check us out!
This page will be updated regularly with our events, meetings, etc. Get more information by signing up to receive our regular e-mail notices. Send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
*During the months of July and August, we meet from 7-9pm.
